Facts

* It was originally planned to be released in the USA as Final Fantasy III.
* After Final Fantasy VI was released in the USA as Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy Extreme became the planned name for the USA version.
* Final Fantasy Extreme was cancelled because they didn't want to release a Final Fantasy game that didn't look as good as Final Fantasy VI, according to Square during the 1995 Winter Consumer Electronics Show.
* Another reason Final Fantasy Extreme was cancelled was that Square didn't want to take employees away from Chrono Trigger because they wanted it released by the end of Summer 1995, according to Square during the Winter Consumer Electronics Show in 1995.
* The PC version was supposed to be produced by Top Dog Software.
* Eidos planned on releasing the PC version of this game only if the PC version of Final Fantasy VII did well.
* Eidos planned on offering the PC version at a lower price point, possibly on their website.
* Square originally wanted to port this game to the Game Boy Advance because they thought it would be impossible to make this game on the WonderSwan Color.
